Innocent Until Proven Guilty

When I decided to go dairy free for a year I had to think about some things... I had to ask, what counts as dairy free, and what doesn't? This is what I came up with...
Butter, milk, sour cream, cream cheese, yogurt, ice cream, cheese... you get the picture. Then there are product like Cheese Its, and Doritos, those are nixed as well (I figure if cheese is in the title of a product, it must go). But what about bread, and other things that are made with hints of milk, or butter... I have decided that these products do not count. A year without dairy, AND carbs, absolutely not.
Last night at work I had one of our cooks make me a dairy free Jumbalya. He made it with rice, sausage, chicken, and lots of veggies. So here is my question to you...
The rice is made with 1 tablespoon of butter to 20 cups of rice. I am feeling guilty when I know this is just like eating bread or pasta that is made with dairy. Is this wrong?

  1. Good news sister, LOTS of bread is actually dairy free. A lot of breads, especially sandwich breads and loaves of bread you get in a bakery, are just flour, yeast, salt, and water. I think you'll be surprised at how much bread you can eat.

  2. Speaking of Good news and since it is the Sabbath... let's ask WWJD? (or maybe What Would Jesus EAT?) Since Jesus is all about grace and living by the spirit of the law rather than the letter of the law - it seems like the Jambalya is totally within the spirit of your commitment. I thing Jesus would say ... "Enjoy"
